The CT-27 Hunting Concession is the largest hunting area in Botswana, covering over two million two hundred thousand hectares (more than five million four hundred thousand acres) in the country’s eastern region within the renowned Tuli Block. This vast, unfenced wilderness stretches from Tonota near the A1 road outside Francistown, south along the Shashe River on the Botswana–Zimbabwe border, extending behind Mashatu, through Sherwood, and toward Palapye.
CT-27 is defined by a diverse landscape of mopane woodlands and open savannah, with permanent and seasonal water pools that support high elephant densities as well as a healthy population of plains game and leopard. The Shashe River forms a natural wildlife corridor, contributing to excellent game movement throughout the concession.
The area is managed under Botswana’s Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) program. Following the lifting of the national elephant hunting ban, CT-27 was tendered for elephant hunting in 2020, ensuring sustainable use while delivering direct benefits to surrounding communities, including revenue generation and meat distribution to villages.
We hold a 15-year exclusive hunting agreement for CT-27, commencing with the 2027 hunting season. As part of a long-term conservation and development commitment, we will begin constructing a permanent safari camp in 2026, along with drilling boreholes and establishing water pans to enhance water availability for elephants and other wildlife.
We also offer hunting at Lotsane Safaris, a privately owned hunting ranch in the Tuli Block of Botswana.
CT-27 Hunting Season: 1 April – 31 October annually.
Lotsane Safaris Private Game Ranch: Hunting available year-round.
On a personal note, I must add that in all my career hunting Southern Africa I have never hunted a more beautiful area than CT27, the mountains, rivers, valleys are exceptional even beyond belief, truly the best topography I have ever seen in my extensive hunting career.
For those that like to work out boundaries, here are the CT27 boundaries:
CT 27 lies from Tonota (next to the A1 to Francistown) all the way down the Shashe River (Zimbabwe border) to the Backline behind Mashatu going to Sherwood and from there to Palapye.
