Newsletter 89

DEAR HUNTING FRIENDS

I hope this Take Aim Safaris newsletter finds you well, in fact I hope that you are off hunting somewhere or getting ready to attend the hunting shows to book your next hunt, sadly this time I won’t see you there.

Since my last newsletter in July of 2022 my clients have had some great hunts in Zimbabwe and also in Botswana. I attach some photos for you have a look at the trophy quality and hopefully get you ready to book your next hunt.

A special thanks to PH’s John Sharp, Nixon Dzingai and Steve Meyer for guiding the Zim hunts shown below.

How about these massive Botswana eland, beautiful Zimbabwean dagga boys and wild lions.

My son Luke in on the hunting.

Exiting the financial services industry, I started Take Aim Safaris in 2007 to follow my passion for hunting, specifically big game hunting on a free-range fair chase basis, the last 15 years of my life (I am 50 this year) have been dedicated to the hunting industry that has treated me well, my own hunting opportunities exceeded my expectations, I completed the big 5, having hunted most of them many times over, I went on to sell many 100s of big game hunts, too many to count and of no real relevance in the here and now, perhaps a book one day when things slow down… do they ever?

I have decided to retire from the big game hunting industry for so many reasons, in the end too many to mention, suffice to say that I end my career with my good reputation in tact and on a high note. Thank you to all friends and clients..

For the past 18 months I have been living in and working in Botswana, developing a luxury lodge and game reserve for a European family, I intend to continue to work in Botswana for some time, what a beautiful country.

I remain in the wildlife industry and am committed to hunting as a conservation tool, I remain a proud hunter and I proudly teach my sons how to hunt.

In time to come I plan to offer hunts on our property in Botswana, plains game hunts from a luxury lodge, hope to see you soon.

Existing bookings will proceed. If I can be of assistance to any of you, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Hunters best wishes and Godspeed.

Newsletter 88

DEAR HUNTING FRIENDS

I trust this 88th version of the Take Aim Safaris newsletter finds you well, this mid-year newsletter is somewhat of a dagga boy special it would seem…

This has been a great year as far as hunts and hunt bookings go, a great come back year from the Covid years we have gone through, our clients have been rewarded with these superb trophies on hunts conducted in the Sengwe 1 and 2 areas of Zimbabwe and also in the Matetsi ECA of Zimbabwe that is very conveniently situated close to the Victoria Falls and the Victoria Falls International Airport.

These 6 recent buffalo hunts were guided by PH’s Nixon Dzingai, Simon Dzingai and Zane Bronkhorst, all great old bulls that were hunted by clients from USA and Europe, thanks for the bookings.

These two elephant bulls in the 45-to-55-pound range were both hunted in the South-Eastern Lowveld of Zimbabwe, Sengwe 1 and 2 with PH Nixon Dzingai.

The leopard was hunted by a client from Europe in Matetsi with PH Zane Bronkhorst, a super cat, well done Zane.

The crocodile was hunted in the Chitsa area by one of these buffalo hunters with PH Simon Dzingai who is such a great guy to hunt with and has been a loyal friend of mine for many years now, thanks Simon and well done on yet another great hunt, great photo of the croc, wonderful surroundings. Zimbabwe is a great place to hunt.

As for me, I have been working in Botswana for the last year (and the next few years to come) developing a game reserve and luxury hotel for German conservationist clients of mine that have bought some stunning properties in Botswana/the Tuli Block and consolidated them into a 100km2+ one block game reserve that has an abundance of water, the Limpopo and Lotsane Rivers flow through the property, hippo, crocodile, occasional elephant, leopard and plains game are found in big numbers, as of 2023 there will be plains game hunting available on the game reserve that has over 3000 head of animals on it.

I must add here that this is hunting conservation in action, some of these consolidated properties were previously cattle, sheep and goat farms, the land was unavailable for wild animals until these German clients bought the properties to covert them back into a wildlife only habitat with no more livestock or agricultural farming on the properties, no more bulk harvesting of water for pivots from the rivers and no more habitat destruction by maize or cattle farming, anti-hunters don’t see these wildlife conservation milestones, none the less hunters are the real conservationists, our work continues…

There is a 5 Star Hotel being built on the Botswana property plus a luxury bush camp that has been built, a luxury tented camp, camp sites and many more facilities that make Lotsane the perfect holiday and hunting destination in perhaps the best hunting country in Africa, Botswana in a word is Magnificent. This game reserve and hotel have been designed to be and are being built to be the best privately owned hotel and plains game hunting destination in Botswana and a unique tourism destination. We have the best eland and best kudu hunting I have seen, the bulls of all species on Lotsane are next level as far as top trophy quality and age of animals goes, contact me to be the first to hunt this magnificent property.

Speaking of top-quality hunts and top-quality hunting destinations, the Sengwe 1 and 2 areas of Zimbabwe remain the best trophy elephant and dagga boy hunting destination that I have ever seen in a lifetime spent hunting Southern Africa, not to mention the best priced trophy elephant bull and trophy buffalo bull hunts on the market.

As always, Hunters, Agents, Outfitters, Operators and PH’s please contact me for more information and a quote on your next hunt.

Hunters best wishes

Newsletter 87

DEAR HUNTING FRIENDS

I hope this 87th edition of the Take Aim Safaris newsletter finds you well.

Since my last newsletter sent out in January 2022 clients of TAS have had early season hunting success in the Gonarezhou hunting areas Sengwe 1 and 2 plus Naivaisha, the early season movement was not as strong as it has been in previous years although some good bulls were hunted, my take on the revision of high vs low seasons has a lot to do with the high rainfall we are having year on year lately. Going back to 2007 when I started operating in the Gonarezhou hunting areas the rainfall was considerably less during the late part of the rainy season, now we have more and more late rain, even consistent flooding that keeps the Limpopo River full and flowing for many months of the year, that flooding stops the elephant and buffalo movement over/across the Limpopo from the Kruger National Park into the Sengwes, this is a new (to me) phenomenon, what I have noticed more and more is that the late season hunts on elephant and buffalo are getting better and better, many big bulls are being hunted late season, say from July to November before the rains start is the new prime time. Interesting, a changing world we are living in.

Corona and now the war in Europe have definitely affected our bookings, I suppose added to this is the fact that there have been no European hunting shows since 2020, even then those shows were not good as Corona hit us just after that, the bulk of my bookings, especially on elephant come from European clients, that said, we carry on… Hunters are resilient, those that want to hunt seem to make it here one way or another, when you do get here you will find a reliable partner in TAS ready to conduct your hunt.

Since January we have done the following hunts, including taking these two super dagga boys, a 60 pounder, a 50 pounder and a 40 pounder elephant:

I do have quota available on buffalo and elephant in the Gonarezhou hunting areas Sengwe 1 and 2, please contact me for more information. Our Matetsi hunts are about to start, look out for hunt updates from Matetsi and also further hunt updates from Gonarezhou hunting areas.

As for me I am currently based in Botswana developing the most beautiful game reserve and luxury hotel for German clients of mine, Lotsane Safaris, a truly amazing place that will be open for limited hunting in time to come, when that does happen I will update you.

To all our RSA clients that plan to attend Huntex next week, you will find TAS at Huntex where you can book your free range, fair chase buffalo, elephant, hippo and croc hunts with us for Sengwe 1 and 2 areas of Zimbabwe, 150 kms north east of Musina, come see us there or send me an email or whats app for more in +27-82-749-1747 as you may know Beit Bridge is now open for holiday travel.

Thanks for taking the time to read and share my newsletters with your hunting friends, Hunters, Agents, PH’s and Outfitters are all welcome to contact me for your Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe hunting requirements.

Hunters best wishes

Newsletter 58

Dear Hunting Friends

I hope this newsletter finds you well.

Since my last newsletter on the 19th of August 2016 we have had some very good hunts to update you on, late season movement is excellent now would be the perfect time to book your big game hunt. watch out for my late season newsletters that will be full of great hunts yet to come.

On a hunt that ended on the 6th of September a client of ours from Europe that hunted with PH Nixon Dzingai managed to get these great trophies in the Gonarezhou Safari areas:

This massive body 45 pounder elephant was hunted in Sengwe 1:

This hard boss dagga boy was hunted in Sengwe 2 area:

This nyala was hunted in Malipati Safari area:

nl-58-pic-3

Hunters take note that when you book with me to hunt any one of these Gonarezhou concessions you have traversing rights between the concessions as these three concessions are all owned and operated by the same Operator, these concessions form part of an approximate 300.000 hectare hunting area that is open and unfenced to the Gonarezhou National Park, The Kruger National Park and the Mozambique National Park, our hunting area includes the famous Crooks Corner on the Zimbabwe side. You can see camp pictures for the 3 concessions camps: Malipati, Dumisa (Sengwe 2) and Kwala-Kwala (Sengwe 1) by following this link: http://www.takeaimsafaris.co.za/hunt-in-zimbabwe/zimbabwe-hunting-areas/gonarezhou/ . You can also see geographical maps of the area by following the same link.

These areas are getting better and better from a game movement perspective as the game numbers in the adjoining National Parks explode into the hunting areas, I cannot over emphasise this point enough that these areas are getting better and better.

If you are interested in a Gonarezhou Safari area trophy elephant bull hunt combined with a leopard and or a buffalo or two then contact me, hippo, croc and nyala are also all on quota and available on this hunt. We have a gap open during our late season prime time dates 04 November to 18 November 2016 to hunt with and be guided by Nixon Dzingai.

On a recent hunt in the Limpopo Province of RSA that I guided myself I hunted with long term TAS clients that have booked many hunts from me over the years, this 21 year old huntress managed a perfect 1 shot kill from her .404 Jeffrey on this dagga boy buffalo, she managed another perfect shot on this 29 inch waterbuck bull. Well done and thanks to you all. Looking forward to your elephant…

On the same hunt my client Matt hunted this trophy roan antelope, Matt has done some serious hunting with me over the years and on hunts booked with me, in fact Matt will be my first client to start and finish his big 5 and dangerous 7 on hunts booked with my company,  he already has 2 buffalo, a monster leopard, a 45 pounder elephant bull, wild male lion, hippo and croc on Lake Kariba, sable and now roan + a big % of the general plains game what remains is his rhino, if Matt hunts his rhino I will send out a newsletter dedicated to the big 5 and dangerous 7 he has hunted. Well done on this roan, thanks Matt thanks Dave.

This old warthog had a broken back leg and was a good one to take.

nl-58-pic-7

This buffalo was also hunted in Sengwe 1 on a recent hunt in September, the client on this hunt was from South Africa, the PH was Simon Dzingai. Another great hard boss bull.

Let’s talk Matetsi:

Let me start by saying that the Matetsi ECA (environmental conservation area) is a fantastic hunting area that has gotten better and better over the past few years under Stephen Meyer and Talmage Alexander both of whom are 3rd generation Zimbabwean Professional hunters, both of whom are currently training their sons to be the 4thgeneration Zimbabwean Professional hunters from their respective family’s. The ECA is as good as any of the Matetsi Units under its current management, a big plus is that the ECA hunts sell at a lesser price than the unit hunts where concession fees are through the roof. Any client wanting to hunt lion, leopard, hyena or any of the other nocturnal species can do so at night legally in the Matetsi ECA, besides the nocturnal hunts the area is full of buffalo, plains game and elephant. My partner Operators are amongst the best of the best when it comes to guiding in Zim this applies not only to Matetsi but also to the Gonarezhou. There is no reason not to hunt these areas if you want the best that Zimbabwe has to offer at the best price possible.

We have 1 lion left on quota for 2016 in Matetsi, contact me if you want this lion hunt.

You can see pictures of our two camps in Matetsi by following this link, you can also see area maps and read area info: http://www.takeaimsafaris.co.za/hunt-in-zimbabwe/zimbabwe-hunting-areas/matetsi-and-binga/

While you are on my site take a look at Binga that is great for hippo and massive crocs plus elephant andthe tiger fishing is great.

On recent hunts guided by Steve and Talmage they managed these fine trophies.

This 35 pounder old bull was hunted in the ECA by a client from Europe:

This buffalo, kudu, bushbuck, and hyena were hunted in the Matetsi ECA by a client from the USA with Steve.
